yamcha met the young goku in dragonball when him and bulma were looking for dragonballs. he wanted to steal their stuff but noticed goku had a lotta power so he followed them to cure his diesease(FAKE) girlophobia! haha!
bulma and him wound up goin steady or on and off til she notice vegeta.it ended from there. yamcha has a personality of his own, he's kinda like krillen in a way and then goku. 1 minute he wants to stand up and the next minute hes a wimp. so in the saiyan saga by a saibamen and then almost died by android 20 (dr.gero) he was a big help in the dbz until frieza saga. until then he acted like he quit then he did
