bardock is goku's father. he was given the power to read minds and see the future. he saw goku's future when he was about to die and decided to change.he was a great fighter and made an artificial moon to turn the saiyans to the oozaru's. he decided to change at the end and tried to convince the other saiyans to evacuate but nobody believed him.he went to frieza to kill him but failed.........the saiyans wound up dying
